Case Study: Ute Lemper at the Chan Centre
The Chan Centre for the Performing Arts at the University of British Columbia has earned an international reputation for its striking design and stellar acoustics. Artists, critics, and patrons alike are unanimous in their praise of this multi-faceted facility, winning it a place among North America's premier performing arts centres. A variety of performances and events are offered year-round, from classical recitals and jazz concerts, to avant-garde theatre and opera productions, to folk and world music.
On March 24, 2012 the Chan Centre presented legendary cabaret artist Ute Lemper, in an evening entitled Berlin Nights/Paris Days: The Art of Chanson. Joined by the Vogler Quartet and pianist Stefan Malzew, the sultry, smokey singer evoked the bygone Weimar era with powerful interpretations of Piaf, Weill, Piazzolla, Brel, and more.
Laura Murray Public Relations were hired to provide a far-reaching media relations campaign that would achieve high levels of public awareness in lead-up to the concert.
The campaign strategy involved securing advance interviews for the artists in high-profile media outlets and featured event promotion in a wide variety of print, radio, and online calendars, guidebooks, special sections, and event listings.

Coverage highlights included: The Vancouver Sun, The Globe & Mail, The Province, 24 Hours, The Georgia Straight, The Ubyssey, Guttersnipe Magazine,? Vancouver Magazine, Where Magazine, CBC Radio and Television, Co-op Radio, and TV Week Magazine.
The extensive coverage resulted in a rapturous, packed house who cheered the cabaret diva through a spellbinding evening of song.
